Department of Labor Highlights Maternal Workers’ Rights

Officials organize the Maternal Health Series for the month of August.

During the month of August, The Department of Labor will roll out their Maternal Health Series, a number of free public webinar events to highlight National Breastfeeding Month. The first presentation was given by the Wage and Hour Division’s Women’s Bureau on Wednesday: “Working Mothers: What to Expect from Your Employer When You’re Expecting.”

“Whether women need to take leave for a medical appointment, to bond with their newborn, adopted or foster child, or to express breast milk privately and safely, working mothers have rights under the law,” said acting Administrator Jessica Looman of the Wage and Hour Division. “We encourage working women, employers, and other stakeholders to know their rights and responsibilities and to seek our assistance if needed.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Jessica Looman as she performs the duties of administrator for the Wage and Hour Division.
  • For Secretary Walsh to seek God’s discernment as he heads the Labor Department.
  • That Labor officials administer laws and regulations with wisdom and discretion.
